Trace Italian is a jazz infused art rock project from Edmonton, Alberta, with music written by Sean Newton and featuring a rotating cast of players. They are pleased to debut the large ensemble version of the group at their upcoming single release at the Rec Room, featuring Connor Newton, Steph Dewhurst, Sam Burns, Declan Paxton, Riley Chernoff, Shea Austin, Sean Croal and some very special guests.
Their music has drawn comparisons to Wilco and Elliott Smith, with the live show being simultaneously high energy, goofy and cathartic.
They currently have two EPs out, the first recorded entirely solo by Sean in his apartment, and the second recorded with Shea, Phil Rodda and Daniel Blade in MacEwan University studio space.
Trace Italian was shortlisted for the Bent River Records call for recording projects in late 2017, by a panel that featured Paul Johnston and Marcus Paquin (Arcadefire, The National), and plan on releasing their debut album in 2018.
